This Berber carpet called Azilal gets its name from the Azilal region in Morocco where it was handcrafted on a traditional wooden loom. Its patterns represent the weaver’s moods, loves, and sorrows at the time of creation. Once this colorful Berber carpet is created, she will make another one entirely different, based on her current emotions. Each piece is therefore unique.

This Berber carpet represents over a month of weaving. Watch a video on how THEM Berber carpets are created by clicking here.

Our carpets with a white background and colorful designs always have a white wool background. The colors can be either cotton or wool. The very bright colors are usually cotton, and the colors that have a more natural look are wool. Our completely colorful carpets are all 100% wool.

How to Care for a Wool Berber Carpet?

Surprisingly, Berber carpets are easy to maintain. Keep in mind that these historically significant pieces are not primarily intended as decorative items. Berber women weave and use them as blankets or rugs for insulation. The exceptional quality of the weaving allows Berber carpets to withstand time and age very well.

To maintain it, you can vacuum it once a week at most to avoid agitating the wool. If you can't shake it, turn it over for a few hours once a month to let all the deep-seated dust fall out. In case of a stain, pat it immediately with a cloth soaked in water, often that will be enough. Otherwise, add some rubbing alcohol or Marseille soap with plenty of water.
