This Berber carpet called Azilal gets its name from the Azilal region in Morocco where it was handmade on a traditional wooden loom. Its patterns represent the moods, loves, and sorrows of the weaver at the time of its creation. Once this colorful Berber carpet is created, she will then create another one totally different, based on her current emotions. Each piece is therefore unique.

This Berber carpet represents over a month of weaving. Discover in a video how THEM Berber carpets are created by clicking here.

Our carpets with a white background and colorful designs always have a white wool background. The colors can be either in cotton or wool. The very bright colors are usually in cotton and the colors that have a more natural look are in wool. Our fully colored carpets are 100% wool.

How to care for a wool Berber carpet?

Surprisingly, Berber carpets are easy to maintain. It is important to keep in mind that these pieces full of history are not primarily intended to be a decorative object. Berber women weave and use them as blankets or rugs for insulation. The exceptional quality of the weaving allows Berber carpets to last over time and age very well.

To care for it, you can vacuum it once a week at most to avoid agitating the wool. If you cannot shake it, turn it over for a few hours once a month, all deep-seated dust will fall off. In case of a stain, immediately dab it with a cloth soaked in water, often that is sufficient. Otherwise, add some white vinegar or Marseille soap with plenty of water.
