This Berber rug called Azilal gets its name from the Azilal region in Morocco where it was handcrafted on a traditional wooden loom. Its patterns represent the weaver's moods, loves, and sorrows at the time of its creation. Once this colorful Berber rug is created, she will make another one completely different, based on her emotions at that moment. Each piece is unique.

This Berber rug represents over a month of weaving. Watch a video to see how THEM Berber rugs are created by clicking here.

Our rugs with a white background and colorful designs are made with a white wool background. The colors can be either in cotton or wool. The very bright colors are usually in cotton, while the colors with a more natural look are in wool. Our fully colored rugs are 100% wool.

How to Care for a Wool Berber Rug?

Surprisingly, Berber rugs are easy to maintain. Keep in mind that these historically rich pieces are not primarily intended as decorative objects. Berber women weave and use them as blankets or rugs for insulation. The exceptional quality of the weaving allows Berber rugs to last and age very well.

To maintain it, you can vacuum it once a week at most to avoid damaging the wool. If you can't shake it, turn it over for a few hours once a month, and all deep-seated dust will fall off. In case of a stain, pat it with a cloth dampened with water; often, that's enough. Otherwise, add some alcohol vinegar or Marseille soap with plenty of water.
