This Berber rug known as Azilal takes its name from the Azilal region in Morocco where it was handcrafted on a traditional wooden loom. Its patterns represent the weaver's moods, loves, and sorrows at the time of creation. Once this colorful Berber rug is created, she will make another one completely different, based on her emotions of the moment. Each piece is therefore unique.
This Berber rug represents over a month of weaving. Watch a video to see how THEM Berber rugs are created by clicking here.
Our rugs with a white background and colorful designs always have a white wool background. The colors can be either in cotton or wool. The very bright colors are usually in cotton, while the colors that have a more natural look are in wool. Our fully colored rugs are 100% wool.

How to Care for a Wool Berber Rug?
Surprisingly, Berber rugs are easy to maintain. Keep in mind that these historically rich pieces are not primarily intended as decorative objects. Berber women weave and use them as blankets or rugs for insulation. The exceptional weaving quality allows Berber rugs to withstand the test of time and age very well.
To maintain it, you can vacuum it once a week at most to avoid agitating the wool. If you cannot shake it, turn it over for a few hours once a month to let all the deep-seated dust fall out. In case of a stain, tap it immediately with a cloth dampened with water; often, that's sufficient. Otherwise, add rubbing alcohol or Marseille soap with plenty of water.
