This Berber rug known as Azilal gets its name from the Azilal region in Morocco where it was handcrafted on a traditional wooden loom. Its patterns represent the weaver's moods, loves, and sorrows at the time of creation. Once this colorful Berber rug is created, she will make another one that is completely different, based on her current emotions. Each piece is therefore unique.

This Berber rug represents over a month of weaving. Watch a video on how THEM Berber rugs are created by clicking here.

Our rugs with a white background and colorful designs always have a white wool background. The colors can be either cotton or wool. The very bright colors are usually cotton, while colors with a more natural look are made of wool. Our fully colored rugs are 100% wool.

How to Care for a Wool Berber Rug?

Surprisingly, Berber rugs are easy to maintain. Keep in mind that these historically rich pieces are not primarily intended as decorative objects. Berber women weave and use them as blankets or rugs for insulation. The exceptional quality of the weaving allows Berber rugs to endure over time and age very well.

To maintain it, you can vacuum it once a week at most to avoid agitating the wool. If you can't shake it, turn it over for a few hours once a month, and all deep-seated dust will fall out. In case of a stain, pat it immediately with a cloth soaked in water, often that's enough. Otherwise, add some alcohol vinegar or Marseille soap with plenty of water.
