This Berber carpet called Azilal gets its name from the Azilal region in Morocco where it was handcrafted on a traditional wooden loom. Its patterns represent the weaver's moods, loves, and sorrows at the time of creation. Once this colorful Berber carpet is made, she will create another one, totally different, based on her current emotions. Each piece is therefore unique.

This Berber carpet represents over a month of weaving. Watch a video on how THEM Berber carpets are created by clicking here.

Our carpets with a white background and colorful designs are always made with a white wool background. The colors can either be cotton or wool. The very bright colors are usually cotton, while the colors with a more natural look are wool. Our fully colored carpets are 100% wool.

How to Care for a Wool Berber Carpet?

Surprisingly, Berber carpets are easy to maintain. Keep in mind that these historically rich pieces are not primarily intended as decorative objects. Berber women weave and use them as blankets or rugs for insulation. The exceptional quality of the weaving allows Berber carpets to last over time and age very well.

To maintain it, you can vacuum it once a week at most to avoid damaging the wool. If you can't shake it, turn it over for a few hours once a month to let deep-seated dust fall off. In case of a stain, dab it immediately with a cloth soaked in water, often this is sufficient. Otherwise, add some white vinegar or Marseille soap with plenty of water.
