This Berber carpet known as Boujad takes its name from the Boujad region in Morocco where it was handcrafted on a traditional wooden loom. Its patterns represent the weaver's moods, loves, and sorrows at the time of its creation. They are recognizable by their sun-worn colors and are pieces that bring a lot of character to an interior.

This Berber carpet represents over a month of weaving. Watch a video on how Them Berber carpets are created by clicking here.

How to Care for a Wool Berber Carpet?

Surprisingly, Berber carpets are easy to maintain. Keep in mind that these historically rich pieces are not primarily intended as decorative objects. Berber women weave and use them as blankets or rugs for insulation. The exceptional weaving quality allows Berber carpets to withstand the test of time and age very well.

To maintain it, you can vacuum it once a week at most to avoid agitating the wool. If you can't shake it, turn it over for a few hours once a month, and all deep-seated dust will fall out. In case of a stain, dab it immediately with a cloth soaked in water; often, this is sufficient. Otherwise, add some white vinegar or Marseille soap with plenty of water.
