This Berber rug called Azilal gets its name from the Azilal region in Morocco where it was handcrafted on a traditional wooden loom. Its patterns represent the moods, loves, and sorrows of the weaver at the time of its creation. Once this colorful Berber rug is created, she will then make another one completely different, based on her emotions at that moment. Each piece is therefore unique.

This Berber rug represents over a month of weaving. Watch a video to see how THEM Berber rugs are created by clicking here.

Our rugs with a white background and colorful designs always have a white wool background. The colors can be either cotton or wool. Very bright colors are usually in cotton, while colors with a more natural look are in wool. Our fully colored rugs are 100% wool.

How to care for a wool Berber rug?

Surprisingly, Berber rugs are easy to maintain. Keep in mind that these pieces steeped in history are not primarily intended to be decorative objects. Berber women weave and use them as blankets or rugs for insulation. The exceptional quality of the weaving allows Berber rugs to withstand the test of time and age very well.

To maintain it, you can vacuum it once a week at most to avoid agitating the wool. If you cannot shake it, turn it over for a few hours once a month, and all deep-seated dust will fall out. In case of a stain, pat it immediately with a cloth soaked in water, often that is sufficient. Otherwise, add some alcohol vinegar or Marseille soap with plenty of water.
