This Berber carpet called Azilal takes its name from the Azilal region in Morocco where it was handcrafted on a traditional wooden loom. Its patterns represent the moods, loves, and sorrows of the weaver at the time of its creation. Once this colorful Berber carpet is created, she will make another one totally different, based on her current emotions. Each piece is therefore unique.

This Berber carpet represents over a month of weaving. Watch a video on how THEM Berber carpets are created by clicking here.

Our carpets with a white background and colored designs always have a white wool background. The colors can be either cotton or wool. Very bright colors are usually cotton, while colors with a more natural look are wool. Our fully colored carpets are 100% wool.

How to Care for a Wool Berber Carpet?

Surprisingly, Berber carpets are easy to maintain. Keep in mind that these historically rich pieces are not primarily meant to be decorative objects. Berber women weave and use them as blankets or rugs for insulation. The exceptional quality of the weaving allows Berber carpets to withstand the test of time and age very well.

To maintain it, you can vacuum it once a week at most to avoid agitating the wool. If you can't shake it, turn it over for a few hours once a month, and all deep-seated dust will fall out. In case of a stain, immediately pat it with a cloth soaked in water, often that's enough. Otherwise, add some white vinegar or Marseille soap with plenty of water.
