This Berber rug called Azilal gets its name from the Azilal region in Morocco where it was handcrafted on a traditional wooden loom. Its patterns represent the moods, loves, and sorrows of the weaver at the time of its creation. Once this colorful Berber rug is created, she will make another one totally different, depending on her emotions at the moment. Each piece is therefore unique.

This Berber rug represents over a month of weaving.

How to maintain a wool Berber rug?

Surprisingly, Berber rugs are easy to maintain. Keep in mind that these historically rich pieces are not primarily intended as decorative objects. Berber women weave and use them as blankets or rugs for insulation. The exceptional weaving quality allows Berber rugs to withstand time and age very well.

To maintain it, you can vacuum it once a week maximum to avoid aggressing the wool. If you cannot shake it, turn it over for a few hours once a month, all deep-seated dust will fall. In case of a stain, gently dab it with a cloth dampened with water, often that is sufficient. Otherwise, add some rubbing alcohol or Marseille soap with plenty of water.
