This Berber rug called Azilal gets its name from the Azilal region in Morocco where it was handcrafted on a traditional wooden loom. Its patterns represent the moods, loves, and sorrows of the weaver at the time of creation. Once this colorful Berber rug is created, she will make another one totally different, based on her current emotions. Each piece is therefore unique.

This Berber rug represents over a month of weaving. Discover in a video how THEM Berber rugs are created by clicking here.

Our rugs with a white background and colorful designs always have a white wool background. The colors can be either cotton or wool. Very bright colors are generally cotton, while colors with a more natural look are wool. Our fully colored rugs are 100% wool.

How to Care for a Wool Berber Rug?

Surprisingly, Berber rugs are easy to maintain. Keep in mind that these pieces rich in history are not primarily intended as decorative objects. Berber women weave and use them as blankets or rugs for insulation. The exceptional quality of the weaving allows Berber rugs to withstand the test of time and age very well.

To maintain it, you can vacuum it once a week at most to avoid agitating the wool. If you can't shake it, turn it over for a few hours once a month, and all deep-seated dust will fall out. In case of a stain, gently pat it with a cloth dampened with water, often that's enough. Otherwise, add some white vinegar or Marseille soap with plenty of water.
